Spring Break Camp 2024 - Friday

A ✨stellar finale✨ to our Spring Break Camp

As our art camp journey drew to a close, we couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia. It was our biggest day yet, and we ended the week with a bang, leaving behind a trail of creativity, new friendships, and unforgettable memories.

Our first lesson of the day delved into the captivating world of post-impressionism, offering an intriguing contrast to our earlier exploration of impressionism. We marveled at the vivid colors and thick application of paint in masterpieces, with special attention given to the iconic works of Vincent Van Gogh.

Upon gazing at Van Gogh's Starry Night, our observant campers noticed a subtle sadness woven into the painting—a poignant reminder of the artist's emotional journey. It was a powerful lesson in resilience and determination as we learned about Van Gogh's unwavering dedication to his craft despite facing rejection. The message was clear: when we create art, it's essential to stay true to ourselves, regardless of others' opinions.

Inspired by Van Gogh's iconic brushstrokes, our campers embarked on their own renditions of Starry Night, using forks to mimic the deep strokes of post-impressionism.

Our second craft of the day was equally impressive as we jumped into the realm of Negative Art. With trained eyes, we learned to appreciate the space around objects, exploring optical illusions and embracing what is not there as much as what is. The culmination of our exploration led to the creation of unique watercolor negative art masterpieces, each reflecting the individual creativity and vision of our campers.

As we bid farewell to another incredible day of art camp, we couldn't be prouder of the work created in our studio. It's been a joyous journey of self-expression, discovery, and growth, and we're eager to see the masterpieces our friends will continue to create in the future.
