This four-week hand-building class focuses on the fundamentals of ceramics, culminating in the creation of a set of three ramen bowls. You’ll explore various techniques, including pinch pots and glazing, while developing a deep connection with the material.

Marlon Lainez
Potter in Residence
Marlon is an acclaimed painter and mixed media artist with a rich background in art education. He completed his undergraduate program at Queens College with an Art Education degree in 2015 and received his Master’s in Fine Arts in 2017. Since then, Marlon has been working as an educator in the Long Beach School District while continuing to create his art. His work draws inspiration from Latin America and traditional folk art, focusing on modern issues. His vibrant color palette reflects childhood innocence and the indigenous people of Central America. Marlon has been incorporating ceramics into his work, using it to expand and connect to his painting background, adding depth and texture to his artistic expression.
